Trayvon Martin a 17
year old black male was shot to death by George Zimmerman a neighborhood
watchman on Febuary 26th. The
controversy of this case is that Trayvon was walking back from the neighborhood
7-11 minding his own business when he was approached by Zimmerman. Zimmerman stated that Trayvon looked
suspicious and called the police but was instructed not to pursue, he did
anyway. After Zimmerman pursed Trayvon
it’s hard to say what went on from there but in result Trayvon was left shot
dead. Florida is a state with Stand Your
Ground Laws, these laws allow Floridians to use deadly force if they feel that
there life is in danger. The question
that this case raises is was Zimmerman’s life in Danger?
In this controversial case some people would say
Zimmerman did nothing wrong and is innocent.
The stand your ground laws would protect Zimmerman because he stated
that he feared for his life and in his neighborhood there is a lot of
crime. Trayvon Martin should have been
less aggressive and just stated that he was doing nothing wrong to Zimmerman
instead of engaging in the altercation.
Lastly Trayvon Martin was no saint and was suspended for drug activity,
this shows a side that the media doesn’t show Zimmerman has a side to the story
also.
Zimmerman is guilty of second degree murder in the
Trayvon Martin Case. As a black young
male I also know what it’s like to be racially profiled, and for people to say
you look suspicious when you really don’t.
the stand your ground law in Florida states that you may use deadly
force if your life is in danger but when was Zimmermans life in danger? He called the police and was informed to
leave Martin alone if he had listened to what he was told he would not be in
this situation right now. Therefore Zimmerman
is guilty of second degree murder.

Dwayne,
ReplyDeleteGood start... but this seems a bit rushed and unfinished.
Where are the pictures? Only 2 of 3 facts/sources?
I like what you have here. You have clearly defined paragraphs, a personal touch, and good facts. Just take another 1/2 hour or so to make it perfect.
We're nearing the end of the course, so we've got to give it the fourth quarter push.
Overall, good. I know that you've got what it takes to make it great.
